It’s very disappointing to see these posters being erected in Cabinteely and the surrounding areas.
Local communities and Tidy Towns groups around the country work extremely hard to keep our towns and villages looking well.
The local and European elections are taking place on Friday 24th May, 12 weeks from now.
The law states that election posters can only be erected “30 days before the poll date or (b) from the date the polling day order for the election has been made, whichever provides the shorter period of time.”
To get around the law candidates and sitting Cllrs / TD’s are now promoting these “public meetings”. As you can see from this example the meeting details are barely legible, the candidates name and photo however, are hard to miss.
