Cabinteely Park – Update from dlr Parks Dept:
“We will be starting works on clearance of invasive aquatic species from the pond in Cabinteely park. These include Nuttall’s Weed, Floating Pennywort and Least Duckweed.
Set up and preparations of the site have started this week. Next week draining and excavation of the pond will take place and could take at least two weeks. Works on the pond are extensive but the long term benefits for wildlife, water quality and for park visitors, the works will be worth it. We have worked closely with invasive species ecologists and in consultation with Inland Fisheries Ireland National Parks and Wildlife Service to minimise the impact of works. Our contractor is a marine specialist and well experienced.
While works are carried out a couple of paths around the pond are closed to the public but we hope that there will be little interruption to the enjoyment of the parks facilities as alternative routes exist.”
Attached public notice has been placed in Cabinteely Park.
