A message from the Save Clonkeen Playing Fields Campaign
As you are aware, an application has been submitted to An Bord Pleanála (ABP) as part of the SHD Process for the construction of 299 residential units on the Clonkeen College playing pitches.
This community is about to lose a vital resource – two state of the art playing pitches that are used not only by the school but also by local sports clubs (Geraldines Morans, Cuala, FoxCab etc).
This will prevent the school from being able to expand, remove precious and state of the art playing pitches from our community (used by clubs as well as the school) and desimate an important habitat for lots of wildlife including Brent Geese (a protected species).
We feel that is vital that our community stands firm against this development and are urging people to help us by making a submission to An Bord Pleanala to have this application rejected.
If you are concerned about our community being stripped of a vital resource not just for this generation but for future generations of our children please follow the Save Clonkeen Playing Fields Facebook Page
You will also find information about how to make a submission to An Bord Pleanala to refuse this permission.
The document below lays out the issues as we see them.
